Al-Ahsa Municipality, in cooperation with the Traffic Safety Committee in the Eastern Region, began installing (interactive speed signs) in traffic critical locations, and the Undersecretary for Projects, Eng. Al-Ahsa Municipality, explained. Abdullah Al-Otaibi said that the project comes as an extension of the Secretariat’s efforts to apply engineering solutions to enhance traffic safety on the roads and address traffic critical points, and within the plans of the Executive Secretariat to achieve the operational targets for traffic safety and the recommendations of the Ministerial and Executive Committee for Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing for the year 2024, by raising Efficiency and improvement of traffic safety on roads, intersections and around public facilities and detection of m. Al-Otaibi announced that the secretariat installed 19 interactive speed signs in critical locations on the main roads in the cities of Hofuf, Mubarraz, towns, and the agricultural oasis.
Al-Otaibi added: The Traffic Safety Committee in the Eastern Province prepared a detailed report on the locations of “critical” points in Al-Ahsa, and these were classified as critical points according to optional criteria in line with the noticeable decrease in serious accidents in the region. The report includes about 80 recommendations to enhance traffic safety in These sites included (engineering and control recommendations, maintenance recommendations), and it is expected that the implementation of these recommendations and procedures will contribute to achieving a tangible impact on traffic safety performance indicators in Al-Ahsa.
