Al-Ahsa Mayor, Engineer Essam bin Abdul Latif Al-Mulla, inaugurated the public health pest control project at the headquarters of the Environmental Sanitation Department, which represents a continuation of the system of other projects aimed at reducing the emergence of diseases associated with public health pests and reaching levels that do not pose any health risk to humans in the Al-Ahsa metropolis. The project aims to (control flies, mosquitoes, “flying insects,” crawling insects, and rodents, combat stray dogs and gnats with compassionate methods, reduce breeding sources for disease vectors, combat environmental pests that appear and are identified by the administration, reduce the density of the vector “mosquitoes and flies” so that they do not represent a health problem, Strengthening community participation efforts in comprehensive disease vector control programs.
The new public health pest control project for Al-Ahsa Municipality witnessed (strengthening the technical staff specialized in pest control work, adding an integrated insect laboratory to conduct relevant experiments and research, introducing real-time environmental maps of the locations of pest hotspots to direct field control operations, adding smart electronic traps for insects linked to a system Remote control, providing ultrasonic devices that help expel stray animals and rodents from vital sites, as well as means of combating stray dogs and other stray dogs that may threaten and pose a danger to human lives).
It is noteworthy that the Secretariat, represented by the Environmental Sanitation Department, carries out control work at the level of the administrative scope of the Secretariat. The scope of tasks has been divided into 4 sectors: “Hofuf, Mubarraz, Al-Oyoun, and Al-Balad” with the aim of improving work and following up on work, while the Department includes an emergency team to receive and treat emergency cases throughout the year. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in addition to scheduling an emergency plan to deal with the rainy season and the breeding seasons of public health pests during the year.
Last year, 2022, 4,597 reports were received and processed by the Environmental Sanitation Department to combat public health pests.
