Al-Ahsa Mayor, Eng. Essam bin Abdul Latif Al-Mulla, revealed that the municipality's volunteer work platform, since its linking with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in 2019, has attracted about 47,000 male and female volunteers in the field of municipal volunteering, which is closely linked to the municipal and housing fields in order to achieve the goals of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing. He indicated that volunteers contributed to implementing 3,750 volunteer opportunities provided by the municipality, with a total of 1,048,747 volunteer hours, noting that the areas of volunteer opportunities included (planting trees, public cleaning, community monitoring, building compliance, organizing events, monitoring visual distortions), while these opportunities achieved an economic return of 31 million, 81 thousand, and 894 riyals. Al-Mulla added: Al-Ahsa Municipality intends to launch the (Volunteer Work) Award next year 2025, in four tracks: "Volunteering in the government sector, individual volunteering, volunteering in the field of volunteer teams, and volunteering in the non-profit sector." For his part, Director General of Partnerships and Community Responsibility Khaled Al-Arji stressed that volunteering plays a pivotal role in all fields, especially in promoting social development and raising the quality of life for citizens and residents, in addition to volunteers acquiring new skills that develop their own capabilities and help them communicate effectively with various members of society, based on the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which emphasizes empowering social responsibility and building and encouraging a culture of volunteer work. He pointed out that the municipal volunteering tracks according to the strategies of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing are based on 5 main areas: (the track of contributing to the work of removing visual distortions, the track of monitoring and supervision, the track of honoring the dead, the track of preserving blessings, and the track of comprehensive volunteering), and these tracks branch into 19 sub-tracks.
